STEPHANIE DURSTON - Principal Interior Designer
Creative, hard working and goal oriented are just a few ways to describe Stephanie. At a young age she was interested in a variety of creative outlets including drawing, pottery and eventually interior design. She never takes herself too seriously and absolutely loves what she does, taking pride in every project she is a part of.
Stephanie completed her Interior Design Certificate at Vancouver Community College (VCC) in 2008 with focus on residential design. Upon graduating Valedictorian, she was offered a job with Inform Interiors in Gastown, Vancouver. During her 5 years with Inform, Stephanie worked with clients, designers and architects coming up with furniture and lighting solutions for both residential and commercial applications. Here her love for Mid-Century Modern design grew adding Charles & Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, George Nelson and Naoto Fukisowa to her list of favourite designers.
As a representative of Inform, Stephanie traveled to New York City to be trained in Flos Soft Architecture. She also collaborated on a number of design projects including a presentation suite for Shangri-la Vancouver and the B&B Italia suite at Millennium Water. In addition to team collaborations, Stephanie worked one-on-one with home owners and Vancouver designers to help create interior spaces which met their specific needs.
Desiring new challenges, Stephanie returned to school in 2012 to complete the Management Certificate of Interior Design at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) graduating with distinction in 2014. In addition to launching Durston Design she has acted as a colour consultant for Benjamin Moore and a millwork designer for Pacific Rim Cabinets and now concentrates full time on her company and working with her clients. With over 3 years focussed specifically on residential renovation in the Lower Mainland, Stephanie works with various contractors and home owners transforming their spaces for both personal use as well as resale, increasing the value of the homes in a thoughtful and responsible way.
In the fall of 2017 Durston Design expanded their company to the Sunshine Coast and primarily works out of Gibsons BC
Stephanie strives to provide her clients with the very best design solutions for their specific needs and stays on top of current design trends. Inspired by nature and Mid-Century Modern designers and architects she strives to create homes and spaces that her clients will love allowing their vision to be at the forefront of the design process.
